A Soldiers' Story
It was then that I realized I had made a huge mistake. I took the wrong road, thinking it would lead to friendly territory. I was alone, as my whole squad had died on the battlefield, and communication was totally cut off, making matters worse.
So my only option was to go back. I headed back, and soon I heard some footsteps from the jungle behind me. I immediately hid behind a nearby bush and shouted, "Who's there?"
The sound of the footsteps became louder and louder. So I turned around and realized that I was surrounded by enemy soldiers. They were all pointing their guns at me. I was scared to death.
I dropped my gun and surrendered, as I didn't have any other choice. They slowly came closer to me and handcuffed me. I thought that was the end of my life.
In a few seconds, they threw me into a truck and started driving me to their base. I was thinking about my loved ones at home.
Suddenly, the truck stopped, and someone shouted, "Engage fire!" from outside. I quickly lay down, and they started shooting at the truck from every direction. It sounded like thudding on a tin roof.
Luckily, all the enemy soldiers in the truck died. I was the only one who survived.
I stood up and got out of the truck, and I saw our soldiers pointing their guns at me. Then I briefed them on the whole situation, and they took me to the nearest military hospital.
